Task for One Call Insurance
Home Insurance and ‘Your Quote’ Landing Page Redesigns
I have created designs for this task in two colour variations. Initially, wanting to stick with the themes currently being used by One Call, I decided to create designs that adapted the original website. I wanted to simplify and streamline the site by removing distractions and making a more intuitive experience for the customer. I aimed to achieve this by focusing on five key areas: moving text, creating a clear colour theme, reducing the amount of colour used, changing image placement/size and adapting the icons and buttons.
However, I still felt the design was dated and did not portray the company very well. I decided to move away from the original design and focus on the end goal of users being able to purchase home insurance and potentially other insurance policy with One Call in a more intuitive and enjoyable way.
One Calls Current Home Insurance Page
My Redesign — Home Insurance Page
The main pain point of the original design was how noisy the page was, there is a lot going on and it was unclear what the users goal is on the page.
My design clarifies the path taken by the user and ensures where they should move on the page to start the flow has become an intuitive process. This avoids confusion for the user, it stops other elements of the website being distractions that they could move to accidentally. To complete their end goal.
One Calls Current ‘Your Quote’ Page
My Redesign — ‘Your Quote’ Page
I reduced the amount of extra information on the start page such as the positives for choosing One Call in the carousel. I felt that the trade off between users being convinced to buy insurance from One Call and the clarity of actually buying it was too high. Since users are already on the page, these prompts just provide extra distraction for the user or may cause them to click off before they have completed the task.
Mobile Device Designs
Below you can see my designs for the mobile device screens. Having simplied the website, I found that the design was able to translate well when used on a smaller screen. The design is easy to follow, understand and is clearly cohesive with the look of the website.
Colour Variation Designs
Having created a design that I was happy with, I felt I could circle back to the original brief. I decided to create a variation of the home and quote page that used a colour closer suited One Calls brand identity. Swapping out the mint colour for a pale blue to match their One Call logo, I have shown the adaptability of this design. I think this design is less eye catching but might fit the theme of the company more.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work, I look forward to hearing your feedback.
